Back from Holiday…
Hi! Long time no see! I just came back from my holiday!
Well, where did I go? I went to Ciputih Beach Resort, it has a beautiful beach, and also a beautiful view!
Now, where’s Ciputih? Look at this map (click for larger view):
Five hours away from Jakarta, with those bumpy roads *sigh*, the view are still breathtaking, and it worths.
Unfortunately, I forgot to take photos, so, just forget about it. 
Well, there’s a white sandy beach, with small waves, and also, it’s comfortable to stay there. 4 days is more than enough. 3 days is just don’t enough (as my holiday is)
Unfortunately, there’s no other facilities such as a restaurant with some kind of fresh seafood (just like in Jimbaran, Bali, maybe my hope are too much) and also, there’s no minimarket 
And, there are 2 things that makes my surprised. First, at the second day, I met my own friend from the olympiad, from the same school too! The name? Podianko Surya. Well. It’s a small world after all, eh?
The second thing? On the way back home, I met my elementary school teacher! What a surprise! And, again, my teacher (Mr. Kris) is just a teacher who brought me to the World of Math Olympiad! Oh-My-God. To met such a teacher in my holiday, it’s just great!
Well, may I end my post right now?
Conclusion: It’s a small world after all.
Books and Internet in Indonesia
A little introduction, if you’re reading my post right now, it means that I don’t post this post recently, but I already posted it at 2:04 AM, September 26th, 2008.
Before I started this post, let me tell you about this phrase:
Books are your window to the World.
This popular phrase (especially in my country, Indonesia) is used for telling children to read more. To tell them, that the books are one way to see the world indirectly. Now? Not anymore.
We’ve got our superthing; the internet. You just need a computer, with an internet connection, and you can surf anywhere! And find any information, you just need to search it! And also, internet has provided you many things; online business, chatting, and many more. What’re you going to expect more than an internet?
I don’t think so. Yes, internet maybe a superthing, but how to get internet itself is a supertask too . Especially in Indonesia. Indonesia is one of the ‘poorest’ country. Well, not as poor as the real poor country. But what I mean poor here, is poor bandwidth. Let’s see what we got here. Here’s the most popular ISP in Indonesia; Telkom Speedy. 200,000 rupiahs a month (that’s about US$22/month), and what do you get? A 384 kBps speed for International service, and 1 MBps for IIX (Indonesian server). Well, that maybe bad enough, compared those in Europe, or Singapore. Now, do you want another bad news? Here it is: Telkomspeedy has set a quota for this price: 1GB quota. If you exceed this quota, you’ll get extra tariff, about 0.5 rupiahs per kB (estimated $0.05 per MB). Want the unlimited? Just choose to the 750,000 rupiahs plan (about US$82/month), with same lame speed. Forget those Telkom Speedy thing, we’ll switch to FastNet. Unlimited amount of bandwidth. That’s the good part. The pricing plan? For 384 kBps speed for both International and Indonesia, the price is Rp99,000 a month (almost US$11/month). Let’s look at the big leap for the speed. For 3 MBps, the price is 1,195,000 rupiahs a month (US$133/month). How expensive is it?
Let’s forget Indonesia and go to USA. I found this Internet Service Provider, and look, how cheap internet is there, in the USA? Compared to Indonesia, that’s just lame. Well, if you say don’t compare Indonesia with USA, then let’s compare Indonesia with Singapore. Let’s compare the Internet Cafe.
Indonesia’s internet cafe? Lame. You’ll need an hour to stream a 6-minutes video on Youtube, maybe more. I swear. In Singapore? You could just stream the video, and play it at the same time without any break! Now, how could I don’t say that Indonesia is just a poor bandwidth country? Internet penetration rates in Indonesia is just 10.4%, according to APJII.
Well, the conclusion? We still need book in Indonesia, as our window of the world. But. Reading books in Indonesia is such a lame action. Do you love to read books? Then you’re a geek. Reading books is not a trend here, in Indonesia. Reading books is such a lame action for teens. Teens prefer to go to mall and shop something than go to a bookstore and buy a book. Don’t you think so?
XP Crashed!
Folks, my XP has been crashed 
It happened almost at 7 hours ago.
After I boot the computer, and select windows XP as my operating system, you know what? It’s just CRASHED! My computer show this blue screen of death, with so many text over it, so I can’t read it at the moment. But, thanks to my almost-not-working Sony Ericsson K790i, now I can read the message. Here’s the error message.

Thanks to google (and to r3ck0rd for telling me the google thing, stupid me :p ), now I know one solution. Press that damn F8 button while booting, and choose the last known good configuration. Hopefully, your windows XP (and mine too I haven’t test this right now) can go back. If not… Let’s just buy a brand new laptop :p
Oh, maybe some of you wondering, why I could make this post? Easy. There’s 2 operating system in my laptop, one of them is Windows XP, and the other is: Ubuntu Hardy Heron! My lovely Ubuntu, I really love it so much!

Demografi, Banci, dan Video
Demografi adalah keanekaragaman penduduk yang disajikan dalam prosentase. Berikut ini adalah demografi penduduk Tanjung Duren dan sekitarnya:
- 1% Pelajar SMAK 1 yang kos karena berbagai alasan (tentunya termasuk saya)
- 4% Mahasiswa dari berbagai universitas (UKRIDA, UNTAR, Trisakti)
- 5% penduduk setempat
- 1% penduduk yang menyiapka sebuah rumah untuk tempat kos
- 1% penduduk yang berjualan tempat makan
- 88% BANCI!!!! Jangan ganggu banci… Jangan ganggu banci… Jangan ganggu banci… Jangan ganggu!
Gila, di sini banyak banget bancinya. Rese banget lagi. Udah bawa speaker, disetel kenceng-kenceng, orang lagi sholat di mesjid juga TOAnya kalah ama si banci kali… Buset2x… Malah joget kayak mau joget striptis… Kelewatan bener-bener… Saya sangat yakin, melebihi 68% sekalipun, bahwa, banci tipikal seperti ini, biasanya minta duitnya maksa (ya iyalah!), dan kalau nggak, biasanya si banci akan kembali ke wujud asalnya (yang tak lain dan tak bukan adalah…. adalah… tulis ga ya?), dan mengeluarkan pisau untuk mengancam. Baru setelah dikasih duit, kembali lagi jadi banci. Oh-Mai-Got.
Pembahasan lebih lanjut tentang banci, kemungkinan besar para-para banci ini terkena penyakit Schizophrenia, yaitu sebuah penyakit di mana si empunya tubuh bisa seolah-olah berganti-ganti karakter. Hanya saja, dalam kasus ini, bukan berganti-ganti karakter, tapi berganti-ganti kelamin! Sehingga… namanya… harusnya… Schizosexia? 
Seharusnya UU Pornografi membahas hal-hal seperti ini, bukannya malah ngurusin bagaimana cara meruntuhkan monas yang baik dan benar (Setelah dipikir-pikir, apanya yang porno ya? Porno si ngga (ya… kalau dalam kasus si penderita Schizosexia sedang goyang dombret sambil tari striptis, ya iyalah!), ngeganggu iya)
Gila, ngebahas banci mulu, gua jadi bingung sendiri apa lagi yang mau diposting. Pada intinya, banci-banci ini SANGAT MENGANGGU. Kalau bisa dimasak aja lebih baik ditertibkan. Today’s a BIG day…
Well, today I’m going to participate in some contest called Suken (well, actually, that is not a contest, that is just a test, if you want to know more about this test, see http://www.suken.net/usa-suken/index.html, but the Suken representative in Indonesia has decided to make this test a contest). This Suken test consists of 2 test, the first one is easy (well, you know, you could just do 5-(-3)=? by looking at it. That’s all ), and the second test, the harder one, but it’s easy if you want to think on how to solve the problem. And, what makes this test big? It’s the prize: STUDY TOUR TO JAPAN!!!
Well, that’s the grand price, I already announced it to you. But, that’s just a grand prize. What’s their 1st prize? You know… Some sort of Notebook. Yes. This notebook, not this notebook. The Second Prize? Correct Me If I’m Wrong, but the second prize is… iPod. Yes, and iPod. And the third one is… a printer. Yes, a printer, lame, I know, if you compare printer with another 2 prize (exclude Study Tour to Japan), there’s a huge gap between them. Yes, maybe not so huge.

Ubuntu installed, WordPress upgraded! (+ How to Install Ubuntu for Not-So-Dummies)
Akhirnya selesai juga. Upgrade ke WordPress 2.6.2. Bener-bener gila, bikin capek, dan makan waktu hampir 2 hari.
Upload file ke fileZIlla bisa lama banget… Apalagi sering Timeout… Sekarang mau bagi-bagi tips biar ga timeout dan lumayan cepet juga uploadnya…
Triknya gampang: Atur di Setting! Wkwkwk… But it really works!
Anyway, ada beberapa good news. Ubuntu sudah berhasil di-install di laptop ini! Yay!
Berikut ini cara-cara menginstall ubuntu dan dual boot XP secara manual (kalau yang automatic gagal), dengan judul: Dual booting XP with ubuntu (with XP installed first) for Not-So-Dummies
- Partisi HD anda, sehingga unallocated space menjadi 10.5 GB –> (ini cuma saran saya, kalau mau dicustomize juga boleh. Minimal 4.5 GB! (4 GB buat ubuntu nya, 0.5GB buat swapnya… ga ngerti? tenang aja, ntar juga dijelasin…)) Gimana cara partisinya di XP? Saya sih pake EASEUS Partition Manager Personal
- Sudah siap? Masukkan CD ubuntu anda.
- Pada saat installer muncul, close saja installer itu, dan restart
- Beberapa saat setelah komputer mati, seharusnya komputer akan menyala lagi. Segera masuk settingan di BIOS.
- Ganti Primary boot menjadi CD-ROM terlebih dahulu, baru Secondary boot menjadi HDD (saya agak lupa namanya, maklum, install di laptop rada beda si, kalau di laptop toshiba saya, tinggal pencet F12 udah tinggal diatur-atur aja…)
- Kalau anda ingin mencoba ubuntu terlebih dahulu, pilih Try ubuntu. Kalau mau install langsung, langsung pilih Install ubuntu (biasa, rada-rada lupa namanya
), dan langsung ke instruksi 8. - Kalau anda memilih try ubuntu, silahkan menikmati ubuntu. Kalau anda merasa puas dan ingin langsung menginstall ubuntu, klik tombol Installnya.
- Atur semua settingan anda, termasuk time zone, keyboard (biasanya yang default US atau US International)
- Ketika dihadapkan pada pemilihan partisi, pilih yang Manual.
- Akan diberikan kepada anda sebuah layar pengaturan partisi. Pilih yang unallocated space (yang 10.5 GB, atau sesuai yang anda unallocate), dan pilih create new partition
- Pilih partition yang swap, dan atur sizenya menjadi 500 MB
- Kalau partisi swap sudah dibuat, maka tersisa 10GB unallocated space. Buat partisi baru dengan tipe ext3, sebesar sisanya (habiskan saja unallocated spacenya )
- Sudah dibuat? Anda sudah siap menginstall ubuntu. Klik forward, lalu masukkan beberapa setting lagi, seperti import dari XP, dan lain-lain.
- Konfirmasi instalasi ubuntu anda. Ubuntu akan mulai diinstall di komputer anda. Ini bisa memakan waktu 5-15 menit.
- Ketika sudah selesai, maka saya mengucapkan selamat! Anda sudah menjadi pengguna ubuntu yang baru.
